The company Iguazú Jungle, which operates boat tours on the Argentine side of the falls, announced the suspension of scheduled departures for this Tuesday (10). According to the company, the decision is based on technical and operational criteria due to the reduced flow of the Iguaçu River.

According to the operator, with the lower water volume in the Iguaçu Falls canyon, more rocks become exposed, which may compromise the safety of the tours. Therefore, Iguazú Jungle decided to suspend departures until Tuesday or until the river flow increases again. At 6 a.m., according to monitoring by the Paraná Energy Company (Copel), the water flow at the falls was 529 cubic meters per second (m³/s), about one-third of the normal reference level of 1,500 m³/s for the river section in front of the Hotel das Cataratas, below the falls. The resumption of tours is initially expected on Wednesday (11), as there is a trend of partial recovery in the river flow. In Capanema, upstream from the falls, the flow increased in recent hours after reaching a minimum of 455 m³/s on Monday afternoon (9). At 6 a.m. this Tuesday, the Copel station recorded around 800 m³/s in Capanema. The water typically takes between 15 and 20 hours to reach the falls. On the Brazilian side, there is no information about the suspension of Macuco Safari tours, which operate in a slightly deeper section of the Iguaçu River.
